To Assess the Effectiveness of a Structured Teaching Program on Knowledge Regarding Kangaroo Mother Care Among Postnatal Mothers in District Hospital Kishtwar

Abstract:

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is widely recognized and evidencebased intervention that enhances neonatal outcomes, particularly for preterm and low birth weight infants. However, awareness and adoption among postnatal mothers remain inadequate, hindering its widespread implementation. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a structured teaching program in improving knowledge about KMC among postnatal mothers at District Hospital Kishtwar.A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design was employed, with 100 postnatal mothers participating. The findings indicate a statistically significant improvements in knowledge scores following the intervention, emphasizing the importance of structured education in postnatal care. The study recommends integrating KMC education into routine maternal and child health programs to enhance neonatal care practices and outcomes.
